Cetus Proposes SUI Community Vote to Recover $162M Post-Hack
Decentralized exchange Cetus has introduced a recovery proposal to retrieve $162 million locked in the wallets of a hacker who exploited the Sui ecosystem for $223 million. The plan requires a community vote with over 50% participation and majority approval to implement a protocol upgrade that WOULD circumvent the attacker’s control.
If passed, the funds will be moved to a multisig wallet co-managed by Cetus, auditing firm OtterSec, and the sui Foundation. SUI token holders can delegate their voting power to validators to sway the outcome—marking a significant decentralized governance response to a major security breach.
